Who We Are

Eco-Lodge Retreat: A Tranquil Escape in Nature
Nestled between lush jungle, towering boulders, and cascading waterfalls, our eco-lodge offers a peaceful retreat on the northern shores of Lake Malawi, just outside Ruarwe village and alongside the Zulunkhuni River. As a locally run establishment, we are embraced by the surrounding community, creating an authentic and welcoming atmosphere for our guests.

Disconnect from the digital world and reconnect with nature in our cozy chalets, shared dormitory, or scenic camping sites. Our on-site restaurant serves fresh, locally sourced meals, ensuring a genuine taste of the region.   • Common Areas: Outdoor lounge and dining area, chill and swimming spots
  • Connectivity: Excellent network coverage but we do recommend a digital detox experience since we are electricity-free.
  • Group and event facilities: we can cater for small groups and offer a serene and beautiful setting for a retreat.

Getting to us

By boat

By boat

  • Local boats depart Nkhata Bay on Wednesdays and Fridays

  • Return to Nkhata Bay on Tuesdays and Thursdays

  • A slow and exciting ride - the boat stops along the lakeshore picking up people and katundu.

  • Private boats can be chartered from Nkhata Bay, Usisya or elsewhere at a convenient time

On foot

On foot

  • Hike along the lakeshore from north or south.

  • A porter/guide can be organised.

  • From Usisya, 5-7 hours combine lakeshore and hillside

  • From Mushroom Farm/Mlowe camp along the way over 2 nights

  • From Mzuzu/Usingini hike 5 hours,stopping for a coffee tour

By ferry

By ferry

  • The Ilala Ferry departs Nkhata Bay at 5am on a Sunday, arriving at Ruarwe at about 10am

  • The return is at 11am on Monday.

  • Coming from the North? The Ferry departs Mlowe at 6am on a Monday to come down the lake.
